A verbal contract isn't worth the paper it is written on.

As quoted in: The Great Goldwyn (1937) by Alva Johnston, Chapter 1. However, Ralph Keyes in 'The Quote Verifier' says that "according to movie industry chronicler Norman Zierold, Goldwyn did say of fellow mogul Joe Schenck, ' His verbal contract is worth more than the paper it's written on'"
