It is not youth alone that attracts the paedophile. The paedophile, for some reason, wants carnal knowledge of the carnally ignorant: a top-heavy encounter, involving lost significance. So far as the child is concerned, of course, that lost significance doesn't stay lost, but lingers, for ever.
