Henrietta Swan Leavitt

Bio: Henrietta Swan Leavitt was the American astronomer who discovered the relationship between the luminosity and the period of Cepheid variable stars. She made this discovery, among others, while employed at the Harvard College Observatory as a human computer examining photographic plates to measure and catalog the brightness of stars.
