Quote of the day
From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods may be
That no life lives for ever,
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.
Arvo Pärt
Born: September 11, 1935 (age 90)
Bio: Arvo Pärt is an Estonian composer. Pärt writes compositions that reflect his study of medieval musical forms. His work also reveals his deep Christian faith. He developed what he named tintinnabuli, or the tintinnabulation method of composition, derived from the Latin for "little bells", which can attribute why Pärt's music typically revolves around the notes of a single triad, or "three bells" as he states.
