Anonymous Quote

I know why the sun never sets on the British Empire: God wouldn't trust an Englishman in the dark.

Often misattributed to Shashi Tharoor, but the quote has been found in a book from 1955 (The American treasury, 1455-1955 by Charles Lincoln Van Doren, p. 493) and he was born in 1956. This same book attributes it to the American philologist John Duncan Spaeth, but we could not find it in any of his original works either.
